Have you ever heard about layered lighting? This is a term very used in interior design, it involves plenty of lighting types use to create a well-lit and balanced space.
There are few ways to layering the lighting but the most effective and aesthetic is by creating three layers: overall, task, and accent.
Overall lighting is the principal illumination of the area, this includes chandeliers, pendants, ceiling fan with a light, or another main source of light. On the other hand, the task lighting is the light with a specific purpose such as make-up, cooking, etc. And finally, the accent light can be a toe-kick or in-cabinet lights, cove lighting, or small portable lamps.
